The story of Geir Ellefsen – the next big thing in seo?
After graduating from college I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I finished my bachelor degree in IT supported business development and started working with sales and did okay. One day I get a call about a job from a IT recruitment company I registred with after finishing school.. They said I would work with English translation, reports and helping out in the help desk. The job was more or less 100% IT SUPPORT. Oh my god…… DOOM..
While I was working in support I started playing with WordPress. That’s when I started learning SEO. From that time I was hooked. I finally knew what I wanted to do with my life.
Rejected and rejected again
Getting a SEO job in Trondheim (Norway) wasnt easy. Mainly because there aren’t any SEO companies, except one, and they turned me down! I also got turned down as a webmaster for the worlds worst web site.
Dont give up young’un
So what was I supposed to do now? I started contacting people in the business and asking for advice. That’s how I got in touch with Lisa D Myers, Director of Verve Search. She gave me lots of great advice. After meeting Lisa and Jon Myers in Trondheim, Lisa kindly offered to help me and teach me SEO in London as part of an SEO internship. I didn’t really have to think twice. Very good timing.
Before I went to London, I used Twitter to try to get a free ticket to the Norwegian Internet conference. Metronet tweeted me back. So I again, timing was on my side.
Working with Lisa D Myers & Sam in London was a very good SEO education and experience. I am very thankful to Verve Search for giving me a chance.
Back in Norway, and happy at Metronet Norge
I currently work at Metronet Norge. It’s the perfect SEO job.
Note to self: Always do you best (even if the job is boring). Make it fun. And learn from you mistakes.
